Mad About Matelasse As we transition into cooler weather I always recommend changing your linens to freshen the master, the guest room or even a bath. In this case, lets focus on bed linens (my fav). Per Wikipedia it is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appears quilted or padded. The technique originated in France in the 18th century, which tells us it's a classic. And looks like this:We've all seen it, but may or may not have known what to call it other than a quilt (which it is.)
